University of Baltimore School of Law is a publicly funded legal education institution, also commonly referred to as UB Law, and forms the University of Baltimore as a whole along with the Robert G. Merrick School of Business and the Yale Gordon College of Liberal Arts. University of Baltimore School of Law is thus further incorporated into the general University System of Maryland.
The current University of Baltimore School of Law dean is Phillip J. Closius, who presides over a class of one thousand students and 50 full-time professors of law. University of Baltimore School of Law has been open to the legal education needs of students since it was founded in 1925. It only became a full time legal education study center in 1969, and was first granted public funding in 1975.
University of Baltimore School of Law students can choose to take a program of courses toward receiving the Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree, with an array of concentration in such areas of law as litigation and advocacy, intellectual property, and estate planning. In addition, people enrolled in this law can also take courses toward Master of Laws (LL.M.) degrees in various areas of specialization, as comprise United States law and tax law.
Some University of Baltimore School of Law centers are the Children & the Courts Center, the Center for Families, and the Center for International & Comparative Law. University of Baltimore School of Law is placed on the third tier of the U.S. News & World Report’s ranking system for the nation’s law schools.
