Choosing an LSAT Test Date

Choosing an LSAT Test Date

The LSAT is given in each area, four times a
year. The LSAT dates are predetermined well in advance, so that students have
ample time to prepare before they take the LSAT.

Students may take the test as many tines as
they wish, but each score from the last five years will be reported to the
schools at which they apply. However, students may also select new LSAT dates
if they feel that they did poorly on the test. They simply must cancel their
score within six days of taking the test, before the score is reported.
Although schools will still be aware that they took that test on that
particular date, the school will not receive the score.

Students are aware of the LSAT test dates for
the entire year, well in advance. This allows students to have ample time to
prepare and practice for the test, in addition to knowing when and where the
test will be.

Once students have determined which LSAT dates
work best for them, they must sign up for the test. Students should be prepared
to be fingerprinted in order to be sure that the identity and fingerprints of
the test taker match. This is done to prevent cheating, such as students paying
someone else to take the test.

In addition,
students should note that on different LSAT test dates, and even within one
tests date, there will be different versions of the test present. This is again
done to prevent cheating, as students would likely be unable to guess which
order the questions will be in.

LSAT Forum for Quick Help

LSAT Forum for Quick Help

Those students that wish to get a good LSAT
score, will likely take part in preparations and practice before taking the
LSAT. There are a variety of ways to prepare, including LSAT classes and LSAT
forums and those classes are known to help students improve their LSAT score.

Many times, LSAT classes are offered in
conjunction with an LSAT forum, so that students can discuss the questions and
help each other learn the proper answers.

LSAT classes can be taken online or in person
and in either case, there is likely to be an LSAT forum offered. A good LSAT
score is much more likely when students have taken theses additional steps to
improve their chances of correctly answering the questions on the LSAT.

When students take classes in person, they
will likely take practice tests, so that they can see where their area of
weakness is. After students have taken the practice test and gotten their
scores, they will likely discuss the answers in a LSAT forum.

Those that take
the classes online may find that the forum is also online. In the forum,
students can discuss questions they have, while the teacher looks over
responses and makes corrections. Some online classes also allow students to
meet in person, so that they can openly discuss their questions and concerns.
However, some students prefer the online LSAT forum because they would be
embarrassed to ask questions in person.

Comparing Your Score to the LSAT Percentiles

Comparing Your Score to the LSAT Percentiles

The LSAT includes five multiple choice sections, each of which is scored independently. The experimental section is scored, but that is only for administrative purposes and it does not influence a student’s average LSAT score. The writing sample is also graded and combined with the multiple choice sections to determine a student’s average LSAT score.
LSAT scores are then placed on a scale from 120 to 180. However, this scale does not make a determination about LSAT percentiles, because it is simply based on a raw score which is then placed on the scale which was predetermined before the test was given.
Instead of LSAT percentiles, the scores are then adjusted, with the resulting scores generally fitting on a bell curve, with lowest and highest scores having the students falling in that range. Most students will have a score that falls within the middle of the highest and lowest grade, resulting in the bell curve.
However, the experimental section does influence the outcome of the average LSAT score. Although the score for the experimental section does not count towards a student’s raw score, it can influence an individual test takers raw score when compared against another. For example, two students may have gotten differing numbers of questions wrong on the entire test, but they may receive the same raw score. Questions that were wrong in the experimental section show that there were things the student did not know, but those wrong answers do not influence their raw score.

LSAT Practice Tests for LSAT Success

LSAT Practice Tests for LSAT Success

One of the best ways for students to increase
their chances of scoring high on the Law School Admissions Test is to utilize
practice LSAT tests. Students can use the LSAT practice tests in their home or
in a classroom setting. In either case, students should take the Practice LSAT
according to the actual time constraints that will exist on test day.

Those that have access to more than one LSAT
practice test, may first wish to review the practice test, taking time to
consider each answer. This can be helpful for students to get used to the
manner in which questions are asked, as well as the types of options they will
likely have for an answer. For this test, students may wish to take the time to
look up answers and familiarize themselves with the type of information they
should know.

Once students have taken the practice LSAT,
they may realize that they are weak in certain areas of legal and logic
knowledge. Students should continue to review the information with which they
are familiar, but they should pay extra attention in the areas where their knowledge
is weak.

Finally, students
should take the LSAT practice tests in the same conditions they will experience
for the real test. They should be timed for each section and have someone there
to watch them take the test. All of these actions can help students to
alleviate stress on test day.

Know Your LSAT Logic Games!

Know Your LSAT Logic Games!

Many studies have indicated that those that
take part in LSAT logic games and LSAT practice can greatly improve their
chances of answering test questions correctly. While each person learns
differently, there are a variety of LSAT practice tests and LSAT logic games
available to increase each students score.

LSAT practice tests may simply include old
tests which are taken within the time frame that is set out for the real LSAT.
In that case, students would be given thirty five minutes for each multiple
choice section, as well as for the writing sample question. By utilizing old
LSAT tests, students can lessen their anxiety on test day because they will
know what to expect.

Students can also utilize a variety of other
techniques to be sure that they are familiar with the questions on the test.
For example, LSAT logic games are utilized to help students practice questions
of logic. Although practice tests are a great help, it is also best that
students train their mind to think in the manner that the questions will be
presented. No practice test will have the exact questions which will be present
on the test. For that reason, students should utilize a variety of preparation
techniques before taking the LSAT.

 Students can
practice the test or utilize LSAT logic games on their own, or in a class. In
either case, LSAT practice is likely to improve the students chances of scoring
higher on the test than they would otherwise.

The LSAT, or the
Law School Application Test, is utilized as a part of the admissions process
for law school. The test is offered four times a year at various locations.
Students may take the test as many times as they wish, but every score will be
reported to schools at which they apply. However, students that believe they
have done poorly may cancel their test score if they do so within six days of
the test, before the score has been reported. Students can take practice tests
or classes to increase the likelihood that they will do well on the LSAT.
